Phil Webb 1944-2020 PDF Print E-mail

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the passing of our Sailing School Principle Phil Webb. For those that knew him and had the pleasure of sailing with him he was a true character and words here cannot express the loss we feel at his death.

His passion for sailing started on the shores of Rudyard Lake with his mentor Jim Ridgeway and the Sea Scouts. They then went on to start the Sailing School some 50 years ago at a number of locations around the City before it finally settled here at St. Thomas More.

2020 Shorebased Classes PDF Print E-mail

We are now taking enquiries for our 2020 RYA Day Skipper and Yachtmaster Shorebased classroom classes at St. Thomas More Catholic Academy, Longton Hall Road, Longton. These will be run over 8 Saturdays from Oct to Jan 2021 on dates yet to be decided. The cost will be only £295 which includes your RYA Students pack, Course notes & Training Almanac (D/S students only). To become a Day Skipper, Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster, you first need to complete a theory course. It doesn't matter how good a sailor you are, you need to know where you're going, how to get there and the "rules of the road". This crucial part of sailing is best presented in a warm and dry setting that doesn't move around very much, such as a building on dry land. Here at St. Thomas More Sailing we can help as we continue our theory schedule in 2020.
